Aileron Dynamics is the largest (by planet count) & wealthiest member of the Interstellar Cohort. As a result, it functions as the controlling voice and decision maker for the Cohort's affairs. The company is the galaxy's largest technology, space flight, & military research conglomerate. The next largest competitor to Aileron Dynamics, HoloForm, Inc., is a mere 1/5th as large as Aileron Dynamics.
A.D. possesses more capital than 3–4 combined mid-sized planetary governments. Its publicly traceable annual earnings are far less than what the organization actually brings in, as evidenced by their intangible presence on many worlds, coupled with the existence of their very own "law enforcement" agency: Interstellar Cohort Law Enforcement (ICLE).
Above board, Aileron sells exploration vessels along with research and resource gathering assets to most of the world governments around The Milky Way. In spite of this, the bulk of its income derives from weapons and logistics dealings that happen behind closed doors. The Aileron Labs (subdivision) R&D facilities on Brahmanda are so closed-door that even the CEO, Armitage Bek, has only been witnessed entering or leaving the installation once in his 28 years of running the corporation.
Aileron's public communications present the company as a deep space exploration & resource gathering pioneer that excels in the art of developing and launching next generation deep space transports. Unbeknownst to the public, most of the ship design & building is contracted to, and executed by, The Pilian (PEE-lee-an) Shipwright Doyen. The P.S.D. is paid handsomely to nod in agreement as as Aileron Dynamics uses their innovations as the lead products from their almost fictitious 'Deep Space Logistics' brand. Oddly, no matter how many planets boast having Pilian engineered vessels, the Doyen always seems to proudly come in 2nd to Aileron Dynamics in every annual fiscal report. A pilot who's flown enough ships across the Milky Way would recognize a Pilian build with an A.D. nameplate slapped on it a lightyear away, but the average citizen has no knowledge of the sort of back door dealings that prop up a corporation's entire line of research, development, & physical products.
Aileron Dynamics's goal is to benefit Aileron Dynamics by any means. Rest assured, if Aileron Dynamics is involved, Aileron Dynamics is going to benefit the most.
