Interstellar Cohort Law Enforcement (ICLE)

enter image description here Due to the influx of cash from Cohort member planets, the law enforcement arm of the Interstellar Cohort is a well-funded and well-equipped pseudo-military unit that takes many steps to enforce the existing rule-of-law. That law is not-so-surprisingly tailored to shelter the business dealings of most of the Cohort's financial interests. It also serves as a mobile task force used with little hesitation to break up any large gatherings or small vigilante efforts that may be none-to-pleased with the methods the Cohort uses to maintain it's financial and somewhat limited physical grasp on the numerous planets in the Milky Way.

Interstellar Cohort Law Enforcement (ICLE) can usually encourage those they apprehend to cooperate by simply relocating them off-world for detention with the threat of leaving them imprisoned there indefinitely. Most citizens, having no sizable wealth of their own to either bribe ICLE officers/officials or compel any of the numerous local planetary defense forces to challenge ICLE, tend to accept whatever arbitrary punishment has been visited upon them or give into whatever demands the Cohort has in mind.

For example, after a series of events on Corinth, one Galilee Walker found herself in an ICLE holding cell awaiting trial after a brief manhunt. However, considering her options were facing certain death or accepting an offer from Armitage Bek, Walker quickly made her choice and took Bek up on his offer. The Cohort is also no stranger to certain "mishaps" taking place during prisoner transport and often secures its own interests over that of the planetary membership—regardless of the suspected criminal or offense in question. The public on Corinth was simply informed that Walker met an untimely demise as a result of repeated escape attempts. Walker’s parents were well compensated financially as a show of good faith and the Elders were assured that their status in the Cohort would be maintained and they would remain a protected member despite this less than optimal outcome.
