Timothy Brown, known professionally as Father MC, is an American rapper from New York City, New York. He was born in Brooklyn and was raised in Queens. Brown began his career as a dancehall reggae performer and interspersed his reggae influence with sentimental love lyrics. His debut album, Father's Day (1990), featured the singles "Treat Them Like They Want to Be Treated" featuring Jodeci and "I'll Do 4 U" featuring Mary J. Blige that both reached the #1 position on the US Billboard Hot Rap Singles chart. Brown's second album, Close to You (1992), included the single "Everything's Gonna Be Alright" that reached #2 on the same chart.
