A lightning rod who's famed live shows were rumored much better than her recordings, Odetta embodied the events and politics of her era on her way to becoming a folk legend!

In 1999 (she was) awarded her the National Medal of Arts, the highest award given in the arts in the United States, and in 2003 she was named a Living Legend by the Library of Congress.
